Some of my favourite Asian Artists that you need to listen to if you haven't already

Thuy is a Bay Area singer known for her R&B music. Thuy as a child was constantly surrounded by music growing up and from 9 years old, she knew her dream was to become a pop star. Coming from Vietnamese heritage Thuy shares that she had no idols to look up to who looked like her and eventually she focused on school to make her parents proud. Thuy then decided to pursue her passion and started to record her music. That brings us to now where the Los Angeles based artist showcases that angelic voice of hers. Many may know her from her popular song ‘All Night Long’ and ‘In My Bag’ which have both become viral sensations.

Her music helps others such as myself gain more confidence and feel like the bad bitches we should be. This month she has a new single 'In My Head' coming soon on 15/10

Growing up, I listened to artists that didn’t look like me. People experience heartbreak and pain in different ways, but I never saw anyone who looked like me deliver that message.

Thuy is showing asians the representation that we deserve within the media

and music industry!!!

I want my music to give people the strength to shine and inspire them to go for their dreams.

JEREENA MONTEMAYOR @jereenamontemayor

20-year-old artist Jereena Montemayor is a Filipino American known for her R&B/Soul music. She first started her career making music covers on YouTube with her first cover being ‘Make You Feel My Love’ by Adele @adele posted August of 2015. Another one of her covers, 'Honey’ by Kehlani @kehlani blew up with 1.6 million views on YouTube that was posted in November of 2017.

She then started to make her own music with songs such as ‘I Like U’ and ’Best of the Kind’. Her collaboration with Dane Amar @daneamar ‘Green Tea and Honey’ has over 12 million streams on Spotify alone. Her song ‘Rose’ is also popular amongst her Spotify listeners with 14 million streams and is also one that I personally am connected to.

Also, quick shout out to ‘Filipina Girls’ although I am not Filipina myself, I showed this song to my best friend and I love that there is a song that has been written for her and all the Filipina girls in the world.

Currently she has released her EP ‘Reminiscing’ so be sure to check that out.

Dane Amar is from San Diego and is a Laos rapper and singer. He is also a part of a group called BAYGO @baygobaby. The song ‘Green Tea and Honey’ has become a hit with over 12 million streams on spotify. He is open to working with any artist and has collabed with rapper Matthaios @matthaiostbw and singer Jereena Montemayor @jereenamontemayor.

His grandfather and father also grew up in the music business, so he started getting obsessed with music at the age of 6 and now has been pursuing his music career through his rapping. His music is a fusion of R&B, Pop and Hip-Hop which makes his music unique and enjoyable to his listeners.

One of his latest release is 'Candy' which is a collaboration with MEYOU @mew which has already broke 70k on Spotify and 100k on YouTube the first weekend as well as being featured in many Spotify playlists.

ASHLEY MEHTA @ashleymehtaofficial

Ashley Mehta is a Bay Area singer. She is Indian and also Filipino which some people do not know (know you do). She experiments with R&B, pop, and hip hop.

I first found Ashley through a TikTok she made minutes before she graduated (CONGRATS again girl!) where she releases song mashups and puts her own spin on all your favourite songs from songs such as ‘Favourite Crime’ by Olivia Rodrigo @oliviarodrigo and ‘Butter’ by BTS. @bts.bighitofficial

She also has her own music career with songs such as ‘Feelings for U’, ‘Rose’ and ‘Don’t Know You’. As Ashley is now focusing on her new music, she continues to show her love and appreciation to all her fans.

Her recent release is ‘FEELS LIKE THAT’ which is a bop so be sure to check it out - there’s a lyric video that I’ve made that you can check out!
